Welcome to the Broadlands
As one of the subdivisions in Ashburn, Virginia, the Broadlands is unique for several different reasons. The difference that sets it apart is the planning and design of the community. It was designed to preserve a substantial amount of the natural wetlands, trees, streams and other habitat that existed before the homes were built. In fact the National Wildlife Federation named the Broadlands a Certified Wildlife Habitat Community, one of only the 25 such communities in the nation.
Restaurants in the Broadlands
Several of the best restaurants in Ashburn are located within the Broadlands. The biggest and probably best recognized is Clydes Willow Creek Farm. Built out of several antique heavy timber buildings, the restaurant has multiple different dining rooms as well as 4 different bars as well as an outdoor area that is always busy during the warm months. Another popular restaurant is the All American Steakhouse, formerly know as the Original Steakhouse. Affectionately known by the patrons as “The Steakhaus”, it has 9 projection screens and is the best place to catch all the sporting events. The Broadlands also has Sal’s New York Pizza, Bonefish, Hard Times, the Broadlands Pub, Bluz Brothers BBQ and many others.
Broadlands Schools
One of the main goals of Loudoun County is the creation of high quality public school system that rivals that of its neighboring counties including Fairfax County and Montgomery County. Almost 70% of the entire county budget each year goes to public education. And the schools in the Broadlands are a beneficiary of this focus on education. The elementary schools include Hillside Elementary and Mill Run Elementary, the middle school is Eagle Ridge Middle School and the high school for the residents of Broadlands is Briar Woods High School in nearby Brambleton.
Broadlands Real Estate
Although the oldest house in Broadlands is the Lefevre House, built in 1874, all of the other homes in the subdivision were built in 1995 or later. Currently there are 3051 residences listed in the Loudoun County tax records. In 1995, 36 homes were completed and sold in the Broadlands and another 136 were built in 1996. And although homes are still being built by Van Metre in the newest sections of the Broadlands, only one home has been added to the tax rolls in the past two years. The community is now approaching 15 years old and is almost complete.

There is a great program for home buyers and home sellers that was recently created. It offers rebates as high as $8000.
